Marco "Albert Marco" Albori - Led the Los Angeles underworld between 1921 and 1927 as a member of the City Hall gang. Marco's fortunes were dependent upon the continuing political influence of Kent Kane Parrot and Charles Crawford. Marco's legal issues began to mount in 1927 culminating with a stretch in San Quentin and deportation in 1933. Though he continued to make headlines, Marco's influence and business interests had narrowed significantly.

Domenico "Dominic" Di Ciolla - Led the North Side Gang to prominence orchestrating the death of former liquor partner Lil Augie Palumbo in 1928. Over the next 3 years, Di Ciolla violently established and shielded his north-side territory against all challengers. A transplanted member of the Genna gang, DiCiolla's fortunes were closely tied with those of longtime blackhand assassin Joe Ardizzone. Both men met violent ends in 1931.

Sharman's suit accused Los Angeles Professional Basketball Club, Inc., with breaching an agreement which guaranteed him a $20,000 annual salary for two years. The owners of the club were Vito J. Guarino and Frank J. Longo. Longo, a former Los Angeles newboy and bank cashier was a close friend and associate of deported Los Angeles underworld boss Albert Marco. Longo and lawyer Roy H. Smith were charged with conspiring to impede justice in a plot linked to efforts to free Marco from San Quentin while securing citizenship papers which would have blocked his evenutal deportation.
