I`m thinking, seriously, about writting a book on "criminal financiers".......the most important people in the crime world. I can never find any real details on these people. Most of the books written about this group are generally from the prospective of a writer and not of somebody who knows a lot about business, finance and how it interacts with crime.

Any suggestions on anybody whom I might look at?

Your right The Winklers are my type of guys!!!!!!! It was interesting to see Namebase coorelate them Mike Franseze and AK. This plot gets more interesting. This is beginning to sound like one of really interesting excursion from the original LA Crimefile.

Do you have Sean Roberts email address, Mr. Lanskyologist, himself.

It is an old and tired act dating back to the 20s with organized criminals seeking abit of breathing room. With Franzese there is very little in his claims which speak of truth. It has proven to be a very effective shield and a financial boon for him but I don't believe it to be anything other than another con.

You can reach Sean Roberts by sending him a private message via his link under the members section. It appears he joined the site recently...

Speaking of "criminal financiers" Ben Herrera may be one of the biggest. The more I think about he "godfathered" both Medellin and Cali the same way Rothstein "godfathered" Lansky, Luciano and company.

You make a very good point. Herrera and Roberto Suarez had more power and influence than any of the well known narco-figures. Just look out how things have turned out for the high profile traffickers and look at Herrera. Every major Columbian trafficker got their start under Herrera yet and still he remains an almost invisible and unknown entity. The Herrera, Ghorbanafar, Khashogghi, Bhatthi types are few and far between but so much more interesting to look into than the everyday figures we read about in the papers. Hey B, are you interested in seeing somethings on Mike which didn't appear in his book? I have been working on putting together somethings which go into the darker side of the born again don and his continued underworld deals.

You call AK "interesting" is that an understatement or what?

Those books on AK`s lifestyle are what dreams are made of.

I found that book that Namebase talks about. Impressive! The Renda-Khasshoggi meet is near the front. It`s interesting because I never saw the S&L crisis as a huge criminal conspiracy that it turned out to be. It`s amazing that most of the principles never did any major time.

The S & L scandal is the most costly scam in American history when you consider the fact that the tax payers are still paying off the bonds which were sold to settle the debts from the scheme. The longest sentence given out was 27 years but that was far from the norm. The most vile perpetraitors received very lenient treatment much like the situation which happened with the Enron execs. Renda, Beebe, Khashogghi got the pub but Mischer and a line of politicos got to share the loot. That would include former President Bush 41, Bush 43, James Baker III (of the Iraqi study group) and President Reagan's Chief of Staff.

I saw something interesting this past week while on the move. Seems as though The Honolulu Club is facing bankruptcy as a result of continuing losses suffered by its mainland affiliate. I am awaiting more details.
